CROWS
Sitting on my tower
twenty one stories high
gaze fixed on the ground
cursed with raven eyes.

Stars that sparkle in the night
captivate my eyes
wings that ache to touch the moon
and caress black velvet skies.

This is a word to all the crows down there
seen through raven eyes
This is a word to all the crows down there…
stop

Crows fight for bits of glass
steal each other's dreams
savage guards of hoards of trash
swoop and swerve and scream.

Years I've sat and waited here
hoping they might see
that they must bare there hearts
to unfurl their wings.

Oh, I've tried to tell them
share my raven sight
talk about the stars and moon
calling in the night
But, I've been met with baleful eyes
and a murderous cry of screams
anger at my raven song
they peck and scratch, I bleed.

This is a word to all the crows down there
seen through raven eyes
this is a word to al the crows down there…
stop

Seems to be no place for me
or my raven sight
no place for stars and moon
calling in the night

Someday I might step off
out into night skies
just one step into the air
see if I can …fly.
